Put both bids on one area first
A 20 by 30 foot two-car drive is about 600 square feet before the flare at the street. Angi's standard band of $10 to $18 per sq ft puts that area at $6,000 to $10,800. The wider size table of $10 to $30 per sq ft puts it at $6,000 to $18,000. If one bid measured the flare and the other did not, the totals are not comparable. Write the square footage in the margin of both proposals. The calculator multiplies the published bands and labels the source. It is not a third bid.
Match the material to a published name before you decide one installer is expensive. Standard concrete paver driveways are $10 to $18 per sq ft. Permeable is $15 to $25 per sq ft. Decorative is $18 to $30 per sq ft. Brick is $12 to $22 per sq ft. Travertine, on HomeAdvisor, is $15 to $27 per sq ft installed, and the 600 square foot table is $9,000 to $16,200. A broom-finish concrete driveway, for a different trade, is $8 to $12 per sq ft on Angi's concrete page. A decorative paver bid and a broom-finish bid are different products. The pavers versus concrete page keeps that split.
| Line | What to write down | If it is missing |
|---|---|---|
| Area | Square feet, and whether the street flare is included | The totals are not the same job |
| Material | Product name matched to a published band | You may be comparing decorative work with a standard band |
| Base | Compacted inches, and standard or modified Proctor | See the base-depth guide. A thin base is how fields sink |
| Fabric | Yes or no, and why, if the hole is wet | CMHA allows geotextile for soil that stays saturated |
| Bedding and edge | About 1 inch concrete sand, and the edge type | Sand must not be used to hide a wavy base |
| Tear-out | Its own dollar line | HomeAdvisor's patio-removal ceiling is $3,700, not a per-foot rate |
| Apron and permit | Which city, and whether the fee and recording are included | Open the apron guide. Do not assume the private drive price covers the street strip |
| Sealing | Included or later | HomeGuide's full visit is $1.50 to $3.25 per square foot and is usually a later trip |
The line-item checklist
- Square footage on both bids, measured the same way, flare included or excluded on both.
- Material name, color, and thickness. Residential driveways in the CMHA note use 2 3/8 inch units for limited vehicles. Streets want at least 3 1/8 inch units.
- Excavation depth, compacted base thickness, and which density test.
- Geotextile, called out as included or excluded.
- Bedding sand type. Not masonry sand and not stone dust, per PAV-TEC-002.
- Edge restraint material, especially near salt air where steel can rust.
- Joint sand product name, so the rain window is knowable. See the polymeric sand guide.
- Pattern and border cuts, if one bid includes a circle and the other is a running bond.
- Tear-out and haul-away as their own line. Do not invent a per-square-foot demolition rate.
- Apron, permit fee, and any recording cost, named by city.
- Drainage: slope, channel drains, and downspout extensions.
- Sealing, dated for later unless you asked for it now.
- Who pulls the permit and who signs an owner release. On several local forms the owner signs.
- A wall, a step, or a fire pit as its own line. Wall engineering is a different guide.
- HOA submittal, if the community requires one, and who waits for it.
Allowances, warranties, and payment
If a bid says 'standard base' without inches, send it back. If it says 'permit included' without the city, send it back. Warranty length is whatever the proposal writes. We did not find a Florida statute in this wave that sets a paver workmanship warranty at a fixed number of years, so this site will not invent 'five years' or 'lifetime.' Read the exclusions. Many warranties exclude movement from a base someone else built, tree roots, and drainage the owner changed later.
Payment schedule is also whatever the proposal writes. We are not publishing a 'normal' deposit percentage, because we did not attach a source for one. Ask what is due before demolition, what is due when the base is down, and what is due at completion. Daytona Pavers does not collect those payments. The contract is between you and the installer.
Pool decks and patios use the same habit
A pool deck adds coping, cage access, and deck drains. HomeGuide's around-a-pool band is $12 to $25 per sq ft, about $7,200 to $15,000 for 600 square feet, before those extras. A patio at HomeGuide's published 20 by 20 total is $3,800 to $6,800. Seat walls are not inside that total. If heat is the reason for the project, the pool deck heat guide keeps the temperature claims honest. If you are paving over an old slab, read the overlay guide before you accept a bid that skipped demolition.
What this page will not guess
Last checked November 1, 2026. There is no public Volusia average to crown a winner. A bid under Angi's band can be honest on a small, simple patio, and a bid over it can be honest when access is through a cage. We will not tell you which installer to hire. Use the form if you want another independent company to price the same scope.

Questions homeowners ask
How do I compare two paver quotes?
Force both bids onto one square footage and one list: base inches, fabric, edge, tear-out, apron, permit, and sealing. Then compare totals. A lower price that drops the base is a different job. Last checked November 1, 2026.
What is a fair price per square foot?
Angi's 2026 standard driveway band is $10 to $18. The size table is $10 to $30. Neither is a Volusia average. Use them as labels, not as a verdict.
Should sealing be in the install price?
Usually it is later. HomeGuide's clean, sand, and seal band is $1.50 to $3.25 per square foot. New concrete often needs time before a sealer because of efflorescence.
Who should pull the permit?
The proposal should say. On several Volusia owner-release forms, the owner signs even when the installer files the papers. Read the form for your city.
Is the cheapest quote a bad base?
Not always. It is a bad sign when the base thickness, the fabric, and the tear-out are missing. Ask for those lines before you reject the number.
Will Daytona Pavers pick the winning bid?
No. We introduce independent installers. You compare the proposals and you decide whether to hire anyone.
Request a quote after you have a range in mind
Daytona Pavers is a free service that connects homeowners with local, independent paver installers. It is not itself the contractor. Your request is shared with a local installer so they can contact you with a quote.
Tell us about the project. We pass the request to a local, independent installer. You do not pay Daytona Pavers for the introduction, and you decide whether to hire anyone.
A budget range is optional. It is a planning hint, not a promise. Read how we handle this information on the privacy page.
