What people actually build here
Beachside projects lean toward pool decks, short walks, and driveways that share a lot with a rental house. Mainland projects lean toward full driveway replacements, especially where an older slab has cracked, and toward patios on lots with more side yard. Seabreeze and the blocks near the ocean feel different from Derbyshire or the neighborhoods along International Speedway Boulevard. The driveway and pool deck pages explain the build. The prices live in the driveway cost guide.
Sand, rain, and the apron at the street
The soil is sand. A driveway that looks fine on week one and ruts by the next rainy season usually skipped compaction or edge restraint. June through October brings hard afternoon rain, so joint sand needs a dry window to set. If the driveway touches the public street, the apron may need a city right-of-way permit. That is separate from work that stays inside your lot line.
Salt on the peninsula
Within a few blocks of the ocean, salt spray sits on the surface and on any metal edge. Ask for restraint that will not rust into the border, and rinse the deck after a windy, salty week if you can. A thick wet-look sealer is more likely to haze or get slick here than a penetrating one. See sealing and cleaning.
For planning, concrete paver driveways often sit around $10 to $18 per sq ft. A 600 square foot two-car drive is about $6,000 to $10,800 before tear-out. Beachside access through a narrow gate can land at the high end.
The right-of-way license, in the city's own words
Daytona Beach publishes a driveway-pavers application for work in the public right of way and a license agreement the owner records. The agreement puts maintenance, re-sanding, and removal on the owner if the city needs the apron out of the way. That is a different deal from a patio that never crosses the sidewalk. Beachside work in 32118 and mainland work in 32114 can both hit the right of way. The west side toward LPGA, often 32124, adds long drives and architectural review in communities such as LPGA International and Latitude Margaritaville. We do not file those applications, and we have not read a specific association's current color chart.
The 2020 Census counted 72,647 people in the city, using the Florida EDR comparison table prepared in August 2021. An earlier EDR summary listed 71,488. Use the August 2021 table if you are citing a population, and do not treat either number as a count of paver jobs.
What to hand the installer
- Say whether the drive touches the public street. If it does, budget the city's paver right-of-way application and the recorded license agreement.
- Name the side of the river. Salt spray west of the Halifax is not the same load as a block off A1A.
- If the house is in LPGA, Latitude Margaritaville, or Mosaic, get the association's color answer before demolition.
- Read the permit row and run the calculator so two bids use one square footage.
- If a section already sinks after rain, start with sinking pavers instead of a sealer.

Questions about pavers in Daytona Beach
Do beachside Daytona Beach pavers need different materials?
The pavers can be the same concrete units used on the mainland. The edges, the sealer, and the rinsing are what change. Salt air is harder on metal edging and on thick surface sealers.
Which Daytona ZIP codes are you talking about?
Beachside mail is often 32118. Mainland Daytona Beach is often 32114, and western areas toward LPGA are often 32124. Those routes overlap nearby cities, so the city on your permit is what matters.
Can you match a rental property with an installer?
Yes. Tell us if the house is a rental, whether there is a pool cage, and when guests are booked. The installer still needs a site visit. We do not manage the property.
How do I request a quote in Daytona Beach?
Use the form on this page. Daytona Pavers sends the request to a local independent installer. We are not the contractor, and there is no charge to you for the introduction.
Can pavers go in the Daytona Beach right of way?
The city publishes a driveway-pavers right-of-way application and a recorded license agreement. The owner keeps the maintenance and pays to remove the pavers if the city needs the space. Confirm the current forms before you pave the apron.
