Paver walkways in Daytona Beach and Volusia County

Quick answer

A paver walkway is a narrow path: front door to driveway, side yard to the pool cage, or the short run from a beach house to the street. The square footage is small. The price per foot is often higher than a driveway because the crew, the cuts, and the mobilization do not shrink as fast as the area does.

Width, trips, and gates

A comfortable walk for one person is often about 3 feet. Four feet lets two people pass and makes furniture day less painful. Measure the side-yard gate before anyone orders a pallet. If the gate is 32 inches, the whole delivery plan changes, and that shows up in labor on beach cottages and Holly Hill lots.

  • Keep the surface even. A lipped edge is a trip, especially on a front walk used at night.
  • Pitch a little to the side so water does not sit in the joints or run at the foundation.
  • Where the walk meets a paver driveway, ask for a planned joint instead of a random cut.
  • Tree roots near oaks will lift a thin walk. The installer should say so before they pave over a root they cannot win against.

Why small walks cost more per foot

HomeGuide's installed walkway band is $10 to $20 per sq ft. A 3 by 20 foot walk is only 60 square feet, about $600 to $1,200 on that straight math. Small visits often price above the math because the crew, the saw, and the edges do not shrink with the area. We are not publishing a minimum charge we cannot cite. If the walk is part of a driveway or patio on the same day, the per-foot number usually drops.

Beachside entries in Daytona Beach Shores, Ormond-by-the-Sea, and New Smyrna Beach take salt and wind-driven rain. A walk that ponds at the front door is a leak waiting on the next storm. Say that out loud when you request the quote.

Setbacks are a city rule, not a style choice

Ponce Inlet's paver packet treats a walk as a zoning question. Walks up to 4 feet wide may reach the property line only if they are pervious. A semi-pervious walk stays at least 3 feet off the front, side, and rear lines. Waterfront walks have a separate seawall rule in that same packet. Edgewater uses a patio and slab permit for flat work and a recorded hold harmless if pavers enter the right of way. Those two towns are not interchangeable, and a walk in unincorporated Ormond-by-the-Sea is a county use-permit question if it touches the right of way. The permit guide lines the cities up. If your city is not on that list with a cited rule, ask the building desk instead of borrowing a neighbor city's setback.

Questions homeowners ask

How much does a paver walkway cost?

HomeGuide's installed walkway band is $10 to $20 per square foot. Sixty square feet is about $600 to $1,200 on that math, and a small visit can cost more because mobilization does not scale. Last checked November 1, 2026. This is not a quote.

How wide should a front walk be?

About 3 feet is a common minimum. Four feet is easier when two people walk together or when you roll a trash can. Match the width to the gate if the path continues down the side yard.

Can a walk match my driveway pavers?

Often yes, if the same paver is still made. Bring a loose paver or a clear photo. Factories discontinue colors, so an exact match is not always possible years later.

Do walkways need an HOA approval?

Many do, especially in Port Orange, west Ormond, Palm Coast, and Venetian Bay. A front walk is visible from the street, which is exactly what architectural committees look at.

Request a quote for walkways

Daytona Pavers is a free service that connects homeowners with local, independent paver installers. It is not itself the contractor. Your request is shared with a local installer so they can contact you with a quote.

Tell us about the project. We pass the request to a local, independent installer. You do not pay Daytona Pavers for the introduction, and you decide whether to hire anyone.

A budget range is optional. It is a planning hint, not a promise. Read how we handle this information on the privacy page.
