Where the houses actually are
Deltona spreads along Howland Boulevard, Saxon Boulevard, Providence Boulevard, and Doyle Road, with Deltona Lakes and the older grid of single-family lots making up a large share of the driveways. Many of those drives are plain concrete from the original build. The project is usually a replacement, not a first-time hardscape on raw land. Osteen and Enterprise sit outside the city line. If a mailing address says Deltona but the lot is unincorporated, the permit desk changes. Confirm the city limit before anyone quotes an apron.
Lots here are often wider than beach cottages and shorter on salt. A two-car drive around 600 square feet is a fair planning size. Say if the apron crosses a swale, because Deltona still uses roadside swales on many streets and the new surface cannot dam that swale. A driveway quote that ignores the swale is the quote to send back.
What the city has published about driveways
Deltona's driveway and lot grading guidelines say a residential driveway should not exceed a 15 percent grade. Steeper drives are to be designed by a civil engineer registered in Florida. The same guide gives a minimum profile grade of 0.3 percent, and it lists single-driveway widths of 12 to 14 feet with curb cuts of 20 to 24 feet, and double-driveway widths of 16 to 24 feet with curb cuts of 24 to 34 feet. Those are the published design ranges. Your lot still needs a plot that matches them.
An adopted city exhibit on driveway expansions says a building permit is required when impervious materials or extra parking are added on a residential lot. It caps a driveway, including an expansion, at 24 feet wide, says a driveway may not cover more than 40 percent of the front yard, and says a driveway may not extend into the side yard setback or interfere with the swale. The same exhibit says there shall be no pavers in the right of way, and that a required apron is 6-inch concrete no wider than 24 feet. Read the current code section before you order a paver apron. The city's right-of-way use permit form can also attach special conditions for drainage and concrete. Forms are listed on the permitting page.
Sand ridge, not beach sand
Deltona sits on the higher sand country west of I-4. The USDA Myakka series, Florida's classic flatwoods soil, is poorly or very poorly drained, with a water table less than 18 inches deep for 1 to 4 months in most years. The same official series description lists Tavares soils on adjacent higher ground as moderately well drained. Some Deltona lots are closer to that higher ground, and some still pond. Neither label is a design. Ask the installer what they see in the hole, and do not accept a base depth copied from a beach job or from a dry ridge job without looking.
Settlement here is washout and poor compaction, not freeze heave. Hurricane season runs from June 1 through November 30. Joint sand needs a dry window. If the drive already dips in the tire paths, read the sinking pavers guide before you pay to sweep new sand into a failed base.
How to plan the money
Concrete paver driveways often plan at $10 to $18 per sq ft in Angi's 2026 standard band, inside a wider national band of $10 to $30 per sq ft. A 600 square foot drive is about $6,000 to $10,800 on the standard band and $6,000 to $18,000 on the wide band. These figures are national or publisher typical ranges, last checked November 1, 2026. They are not quotes from Daytona Pavers, and Daytona Pavers does not set installer prices. They are also not a Volusia County average, because no public local price dataset was found. Access, demolition, base depth, material, drainage, and the company you hire all move the number. The only figure that belongs in a contract is a written quote after someone has seen the property. | Example | Standard band | Wider national band |
|---|---|---|
| About 360 sq ft | $3,600 to $6,480 | $3,600 to $10,800 |
| About 600 sq ft | $6,000 to $10,800 | $6,000 to $18,000 |
| About 1,000 sq ft | $10,000 to $18,000 | $10,000 to $30,000 |
The standard band is Angi's 2026 standard paver driveway range. The wider band is Angi's size table of $10 to $30 per square foot. Demolition of the old slab is extra. Angi tells readers to budget it and does not publish a single per-square-foot haul-away rate we will repeat. HomeAdvisor says removing an existing patio can reach $3,700 depending on size and material. Treat that as a ceiling example, not a Deltona price.
A practical checklist before you request a match
- Confirm the lot is inside Deltona, not unincorporated Volusia, Osteen, or Enterprise.
- Read the grading guide if the garage sits well above or below the road. A grade over 15 percent is an engineering conversation.
- Ask whether any of the work touches the right of way. If it does, expect a concrete apron, not pavers, unless the city writes a different answer.
- If a community association reviews exterior work, submit the color before the pallet is ordered. Chapter 720 is the state statute. It is not your association's color list.
- Photograph the swale, the sidewalk, and any low spot that holds water after a storm.
- Use the cost calculator for a national band, then the permit guide for the city row.
Nearby cities with their own pages
DeBary is north, along the river and I-4, with its own driveway-material rules. Orange City sits on the DeLand side of Deltona and issues its own use permit. DeLand is the county seat, with more shade and an accessory-structure permit path for driveways. Those three are the useful comparisons. A Daytona Beach salt-air spec is the wrong template for a Deltona lot.

Questions about pavers in Deltona
Do I need a permit for pavers in Deltona?
The city's adopted driveway exhibit says a building permit is required when impervious materials or designated parking are added on a residential lot. Work in the right of way uses the city's right-of-way use permit. Confirm the current form on the permitting page before work starts. This is not legal advice.
Can the apron be pavers in Deltona?
The published exhibit says pavers are not allowed in the right of way and that a required apron is 6-inch concrete, no wider than 24 feet. Confirm that language is still the rule for your street before you design a paver apron.
How steep can a Deltona driveway be?
The grading guide says the maximum residential driveway grade should be 15 percent, with a minimum profile grade of 0.3 percent. Steeper work is to be designed by a civil engineer registered in Florida.
What should a Deltona driveway cost to plan?
Use Angi's national standard band of $10 to $18 per square foot, about $6,000 to $10,800 for 600 square feet, or the wider $10 to $30 band, about $6,000 to $18,000. These are not Deltona quotes.
Does Daytona Pavers install in Deltona?
No. Daytona Pavers matches you with an independent local installer. We are not the contractor, and we do not pull the Deltona permit.
Request a quote in Deltona
Daytona Pavers is a free service that connects homeowners with local, independent paver installers. It is not itself the contractor. Your request is shared with a local installer so they can contact you with a quote.
Tell us about the project. We pass the request to a local, independent installer. You do not pay Daytona Pavers for the introduction, and you decide whether to hire anyone.
