West of I-95 is an HOA conversation
A lot of newer Ormond driveways are already pavers, which means repair, sealing, and matching a color matter as much as brand-new work. If your community has an architectural committee, get the color approved before a pallet is ordered. Committees do not all use the same list. Halifax Plantation, Plantation Bay, and Hunter's Ridge are not interchangeable. A front walkway is visible from the street, so it gets the same scrutiny as the drive.
Beachside Ormond and the river
Beachside addresses often use 32176, the same general ZIP family as Ormond-by-the-Sea. Salt spray and smaller lots are the constraint. Low streets near the Halifax and Tomoka need a clear answer about where rain goes. A patio or drive that ponds against the house will find the door during a storm. Mainland Ormond mail is often 32174.
Size changes the math
Do not multiply a small walkway price across a 1,000 square foot subdivision driveway, or the reverse. At $10 to $18 per sq ft, about 1,000 square feet is $10,000 to $18,000 before tear-out. A short front walk is often a minimum-charge project. Both numbers are in the driveway cost and patio cost guides.
The driveway submittal the city posted
Ormond Beach's driveway permit checklist, marked as of February 2026, asks for a building permit application, an owner disclosure if it applies, a notice of commencement if it applies, and a stormwater management application when new impervious area is added. More than 1,000 square feet of new impervious area also needs a drainage plan. The survey has to show the driveway, the dimensions, the setbacks, and the material, including pavers. That is the city's list, not a contractor's habit. West of I-95, Plantation Bay, Hunter's Ridge, and Breakaway Trails add architectural review on top of the city list. Those communities do not share one approved palette.
The 2020 Census count is 43,080. Beachside mail often shares 32176 with Ormond-by-the-Sea, but the city line is the permit line. North of the city, county use-permit rules apply, including a notarized hold harmless for a paver apron. Do not let a single quote blur those two offices.
- Total the new paver area before you apply. Cross 1,000 square feet and the stormwater packet grows.
- Put concrete, asphalt, or pavers on the survey, in the city's words, not 'hardscape.'
- Separate a city lot from an Ormond-by-the-Sea lot before anyone names the permit desk.
- If weeds are already in the joints, read weeds and ants. New sand on a hollow base will not hold.

Questions about pavers in Ormond Beach
Will my Ormond Beach HOA approve pavers?
Many west-side communities allow pavers and still control the color and the pattern. Read your guidelines and submit the sample the committee asks for. Daytona Pavers does not file HOA applications.
Are beachside Ormond projects different?
Yes. Lots are tighter, salt air is constant, and walks and pool decks are as common as long drives. Ask about non-rusting edges and a sealer that stays grippy when wet.
Who permits an Ormond Beach driveway apron?
Inside the city, the City of Ormond Beach is the usual office for work in the right of way. Confirm with them. Unincorporated streets just north are a county question, covered on the Ormond-by-the-Sea page.
What does a typical Ormond driveway cost to plan?
Angi's 2026 national standard band is $10 to $18 per square foot. About 1,000 square feet is $10,000 to $18,000 on that band, or $10,000 to $30,000 on Angi's wider $10 to $30 table. Demolition is extra. This is not an Ormond Beach quote. Last checked November 1, 2026.
When does Ormond Beach want a drainage plan?
The February 2026 driveway checklist says a stormwater application is required when new impervious area is added, and that more than 1,000 square feet also needs a drainage plan.
