Pavers in South Daytona, Florida

Quick answer

South Daytona is a small mainland city south of Daytona Beach, along US 1 and Big Tree Road, with Reed Canal on the mental map of anyone who has flooded a backyard. Salt is milder than on the Shores. Afternoon rain and sandy soil are not milder. Paver work here is mostly driveway replacements and modest patios on established lots.

Canals and where water is supposed to go

If your yard backs up to a canal or a drainage easement, the new driveway or patio cannot fill that easement or pitch water at a neighbor. Ask the installer to say, in the quote, where the runoff goes. South Daytona addresses are often in 32119, another ZIP that people casually call Daytona.

Older slabs

A lot of the housing stock has original concrete that has cracked, settled, or both. A paver price around $6,000 to $10,800 for 600 square feet is the install band only. Angi says to budget demolition and does not publish one per-square-foot haul-away rate we will repeat. Compare that with a new poured slab using the pavers vs concrete guide if you are truly undecided.

Close to the beach, not on the beach

You can be at the ocean in minutes and still not have beachside salt loads. That usually means standard concrete pavers and ordinary edge restraint are fine. You still want compaction. Sand does not care that you are one bridge away from A1A.

Reed Canal lots and older slabs

South Daytona counted 12,865 people in the 2020 Census. It is its own city along US 1 and Big Tree Road, with Reed Canal as the drainage landmark. We did not find a paver-specific right-of-way sheet as explicit as Port Orange's during this check. Confirm apron rules with the City of South Daytona. Salt is lighter than on the Shores. The sand and the afternoon rain are not lighter.

Replacing a cracked slab is the common request. Angi's national standard band is $10 to $18 per sq ft, about $6,000 to $10,800 for 600 square feet, or $6,000 to $18,000 on the $10 to $30 table. Haul-away is extra. Angi says to budget demolition and does not give one per-square-foot tear-out rate we will repeat. A poured replacement, for comparison, sits in Angi's 2026 concrete driveway band of $8 to $20 per sq ft, with broom finish at $8 to $12 per sq ft and stamped at $12 to $18 per sq ft. The pavers versus concrete page puts those bands side by side. If the new pavers flash white, that is efflorescence, not a failed install by itself.

  1. Name South Daytona, not Daytona Beach, when you ask about a permit.
  2. Point out Reed Canal or a swale if the yard holds water.
  3. Compare a paver band with a broom-finish concrete band before you decide.
  4. Keep sealer off brand-new concrete pavers until the haze fades.

Questions about pavers in South Daytona

Is South Daytona the same permit office as Daytona Beach?

No. South Daytona is its own city. Confirm apron and right-of-way rules with the City of South Daytona rather than assuming Daytona Beach's process.

What paver projects are most common here?

Driveway replacements on older homes, small patios, and the occasional pool deck. Long resort-style entries are less typical than they are west of I-95 in Ormond or Palm Coast.

How should I describe drainage on the form?

Say if you are next to Reed Canal or a swale, and if the current driveway holds water. That one note saves a bad assumption.

Do you charge South Daytona homeowners?

No. Daytona Pavers does not charge you for the introduction. You hire the installer directly if you like the quote.

Is South Daytona covered by Daytona Beach permits?

No. It is a separate city. Confirm apron rules there. We did not treat Daytona Beach's license agreement as if it applied on Big Tree Road.
